Advantages and Disadvantages of iPad

iPad advantages and disadvantages. 

Advantages. 

1) The iPad tends to be more stable, easier to use and runs smoother than other tablets;

2) Apple’s iOS has a clear advantage over Google’s Android OS in terms of overall user experience of an average, non-technical user. It’s a powerful, easy-to-use operating system with intuitive interface. iPad continues to promote the best application development environment since its features are easy to understand and user-friendly. This makes iPad ideal for a variety of audiences and app developers;

3) iPad enables some close integration between devices and platforms that Android tablets can’t touch at the moment. You can even copy and paste between your iPad and your Macbook, as long as they are running the latest version of their Operating system;

4) The biggest advantage of iPad is that it has the Apple ‘App Store’ on its side, which has a long list of downloadable apps that includes every popular app you can think of. The Apple ‘App Store’ currently hosts about 2 million apps designed for iOS devices, including the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Of these apps, about 1 million are designed specifically for the iPad and the rest capable of running in compatibility modes. These apps include wireless keyboards, tablet cases, external speakers and many more. Tablet-wise, iPad still holds the most useful applications up to now;

5) There is a significant difference between the way the apps are handled for iPad and Android tablets. Apple only officially supports and allows applications to be installed through its own store. Apple checks and approves each app individually prior to its release into the Apple store for sale, eliminating the possibility of malware/bugs to get into their device;

6)  It is easier to post updates and share on social networks using iPad than Android tablet because of deep integration of Facebook and Twitter with iOS. 

Disadvantages. 

1) In-spite of its robust user experience, there is a common complain about the limitations of iPad tablet in customization options to the users forcing the use of Jail-breaking. iPad users are largely stuck with the same uniform rows and columns of icons that have been in place since the beginning;

2) A major weakness of iPad is multitasking is absent in it i.e when one application is used in the presence of  other, it becomes paused;

3) The iPad is also unable to expand its storage capacity through micro-SD cards in absence of any card slot, which means when it goes out of storage space, it is really out of space. Although the storage of iPad can be expanded with the help of an external hard drive, you cannot hook up just any external drive with the iPad. iPad has no USB Ports. External drive that requires a USB connection won’t be recognized by the iPad. However, there are a number of storage devices and adapters that can use WiFi and Apple’s own Lightning port to connect, allowing for additional storage;

4) Another big weakness for the iPad is that Flash or Shock-wave videos cannot be run on it though this has become less of a concern as more and more websites are using Apple-compatible HTML 5 nowadays. Nevertheless, there are various apps available now on the iOS App Store for iPad  that will help you to get Flash on your iOS device;

5) The iPad is also more expensive than other tablets. The price of iPad was a strong selling point when it was first launched. But now you can get a current generation popular Android tablet with 7-inch screen and plenty of processing power at a significantly lower price than that of iPad and iPad Mini.
